World Earth Day

World Earth Day has been celebrated for exactly half a century, from 1970 until today and every year, on April 22. Millions of people around the world are taking part in the annual awareness and education activities. Thus, the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Greece, despite this year’s special situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, participates also in the celebration of this important day for the Environment.

In which way? From our home, as we stay home this year. According to the announcement of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, today, April 22, all those who are sensitive to this issue are invited to upload to their personal social media (with hashtags #ypen and #earthday2020) photos and children’s drawings inspired by the beauties of the Greek land. This action has already been posted on the website of the World Earth Day Organization (https://www.earthday.org).

The Minister of Environment and Energy, Kostis Hatzidakis, states: “Staying at home, with our computer or mobile phone, let us remind that here in Greece, in addition to our good performance in dealing with the pandemic, we can also play a leading role in protecting the environment. We do not forget that the environment is our common home.
